Bondline Installs Large ESD Floor To Create EPA For Electronics Manufacturer

The Project Brief

The brief for the client’s project was to install a large ESD floor to create an Electrostatic Protected Area (EPA) in an old mill that had recently been refurbished into an office. As the floor was recently laid for an office in a leased building, they wanted to be able to remove the ESD floor easily without damaging the surface below. Since the refurbishment is new and very aesthetically pleasing, the client wanted the new floor to fit in with the building décor and look good. The floor that Bondline would install needed to compliant with the IEC 61340-5-1 Standard.

The Installation Of The ESD Floor

After surveying the site and having a meeting with the client, Bondline measured up the room and looked at a number of different interlocking tiles that suited the client’s requirements. Bondline then reviewed which option both looked the best and would lay well on the existing surface.

Along installing a large ESD floor, Bondline also created a small, tidy non-ESD area entrance. This was created so that a utilities area could be accessed without entering the EPA and fit stylish heavy-duty trims to keep with the aesthetics and remove any trip hazards.

The installation went ahead using Bondline’s ESD interlocking floor tile in light grey and was fully laid, certified and ready for use within 2 days. Due to using this type of ESD flooring, we had no need to screed or use any adhesives meaning the surface below the floor will remain undamaged.
