Recently, Bondline has helped a huge, worldwide company – a manufacturer of electronic devices for the oil and gas industry – improve their operations with an ESD floor installation.
The brief of the installation was to install an ESD floor to create an ESD Protected Area within a zone that was being used for office space. The customer required an installation that could be carried out with minimum amount of disruption and in as quick as time as possible. The customer was referred to Bondline by one of their contacts who knew Bondline from a previous company they had worked for.
John, who installed the floor on behalf of Bondline, offered the company various types of ESD flooring options to choose from. Based on the client’s requirements, John suggested the Interlocking ESD Floor Tiles would be the best material to use as this would require no preparation to the existing floor surface. The client agreed and decided that the ESD Interlocking Floor Tiles would be the most suitable flooring option for their solution.
The Interlocking ESD Floor Tiles were simply laid directly onto the customer’s existing raised access floor with carpet tiles. With this process, no preparation was needed and the client did not have to pay extra for removing the carpet tiles. It also enabled a very quick installation so the client could start to use the area in a shorter period of time. The entire installation was completed in less than half a day so all objectives were met.
The installation has now provided the company with a dedicated ESD area where all static sensitive electronic manufacturing can take place. Previously, operators were working with devices on their office desks which was increasing the risk of static damage to components. In addition, the client is pleased they can show their customers how their products are handled in a static safe environment. The client does get audited by their customers so this has helped to make them look more professional.
Overall, the customer was delighted with the installation. After a short period of time after the installation, John re-visited the site to test the floor to check to see whether the floor was in working order and compliant within the IEC 61340-5-1 British Standards.

The customer was overall very satisfied with the outcome of the Interlocking ESD Floor Tile installation. The colour combination of the yellow edging and blue carpeting helps to better identify the Electrostatic Protected Area; plus even matching the Bondline branding colours!
