Bondline Helps UK Electronics Manufacturer Set Up EPA With ESD Workbenches And ESD Chairs

In January 2023, Bondline helped a UK electronics manufacturing company set up an Electrostatic Protected Area with the supply, deliver and install of ESD Workbenches and ESD Chairs.

The Project Brief

The brief from the customer was to supply ESD Workbenches and ESD Chairs as part of the project to turn the area (which was being used as office space) into an Electrostatic Protected Area (EPA).

Preparation & Solution

Initially, one of Bondline’s installers – John – had a site meeting with the client to obtain as much information about what the client wanted and required. After the client outlined their requirements, John offered advice and suggestions based on the brief to form a rough specification. John suggested the most suitable range of ESD workbenches and ESD chairs based on the information given. John then visited the site to measure up the area. The products that would be installed on-site were: Premium ESD Chairs and ESD KSHB Benches with the additional instalment of lights.

John quoted the job and received the order in late October. In early December, the client asked for delivery and installation on 23^rd January as this was the optimum date for them as it coincided with the completion of other works on site. We duly delivered and installed on the 23^rd and the customer is happy. Each product installed on-site was in compliance to the IEC-61340-5-1 International Standard.

The End Result

The products supplied and installed by Bondline, included:

• ESD KSHB Workbench
• Premium ESD Chair

Several ESD workbenches and ESD chairs were installed on-site on the customer’s premises. Each ESD workbench was installed with one shelf and a pair of uprights along with lighting support. The new EPA set-up has provided the customer with a designated ESD Work Area to allow for the safe handling and manufacturing of static sensitive components and devices.

After the completion of the installation, John then followed up by visiting the client’s site to test and certificate the installed products, ensuring compliance to the IEC 61340-5-1 International Standard.
